Taking it easy...

The 'festival of freedom' yesterday was interesting, though not particularly exciting. It rained a lot, too! It was a long night though and quite tiring overall, so I've spent the day so far taking it easy and trying to clear the backlog of things to post here...not that I've succeeded yet! I'll post a full report about the festival of freedom later.

Anyway, it's time for me to get out there before it gets dark...and I think that now the wall has symbolically been knocked down a second time, it's time to take a look at the west.

Reckon putting the wall up a second time, although symbolically, could be emotional enough for some people too. I was twelve years old in 1989, and can't honestly say I had heard much about the wall before the news of it going down. Still, it made quite an impact. I've got a tiny little piece of the Berlin Wall in a box somewhere in the attic too.

I can't help wondering what they're going to do with them...not exactly the most compact of souvenirs.

The rush to dismantle the balloon-light bases to take home has amusing echoes of the 'Mauerspechte' chiselling at the wall after it fell!
