If you're planning a visit to Berlin and want to see places that relate to a particular theme or period of history, this is the page to come to! If you're looking to find things in a particular part of Berlin, try the Berlin Map instead.

This section is very much at an experimental stage - not all the articles on the site are linked to from these theme pages, just ones relating to the most popular topics. If you want to browse all the articles, you can do that in the My Journeys section or, of course, by using the map page mentioned above. There's also the Search facility if you're looking for something specific.

I hope you'll find this section useful even though I'm still fiddling with it!

The Berlin Wall - remnants of the wall, watchtowers, border crossings and places once surrounded by the wall.

Former East Berlin - buildings and other relics from East Berlin's days as 'Capital of the GDR'.

Cold War Berlin - checkpoints, listening posts and other left overs from Berlin's Cold War past.

Third Reich Berlin - Third Reich buildings, memorials and other sites relating to the Nazi period.

Christmas - Christmas markets, Glühwein and snow!

Old Photos of Berlin - see Berlin as it was, through the photos of Günter Bittner and the mystery tourist!

Other Places in Berlin - interesting things which didn't quite fit in any of the other categories!
